Computing@UW Orientation
During your time at UW-Madison, you will have access to a broad range of information technology resources, most of them free. Faculty and instructors will expect you to have a basic understanding of these technologies, and knowing how to use them before you begin classes will increase your comfort level and save you a great deal of time.
All incoming freshmen and transferred students are expected to register for a one-hour orientation session which will highlight important user tips for each of the UW technology products and services below.

Register
The Computing@UW Orientation will be led by Software Training for Students (STS) instructors. You can register for the Computing@UW Orientation on their web site. You will receive a reminder email about the orientation beforehand.

Orientation Dates
The one-hour orientation sessions will be held at a variety of locations during Welcome Week and the first week of classes. You should sign up for the date, time and location that best meets your needs.

Free Flash Drive
Upon completion of the orientation, you will receive a coupon redeemable for a free flash drive that you must pick up at the DoIT Tech Store, 1210 W. Dayton Street. The flash drive will be pre-loaded with security software, email and calendar desktop clients, and the orientation materials. You cannot receive the flash drive without participating in the orientation session.
